MarKia is the definition of an artist: singer, songwriter, rapper, DJ, producer, dancer and above all else...worshipper. At age 23, MarKia has achieved much in his music career.
In 2002, the release of his compilation "From the Streetz of the Dirty South-East" showcased local Melbourne talent and went on to sell successfully in the underground market.
2003 saw the establishment of 5-1 Entertainment, MarKias own independent label. Alongside hip-hop duo El-A-Mentz and R&B singer Bek-B, they performed countless shows in Melbourne and Sydney throughout the year.
In 2004, MarKia joined Rock/R&B band Exile and went on to perform on Channel 10s Good Morning Australia. Exile did shows all around Melbourne and performed with local MC Nox, the supporting act of the sucessful Roc The Bloc Tour (Ja Rule, 112, Chingy, Case, Nitty). During the year, MarKia worked with long time friend and local artist Israel on his first single release.
"Wake Up With U" was released through Sony/Roadshow Entertainment in early 2005 and "Wake Up With U (MarKias Remix)" was included on the single.
At the end of 04, MarKias single "Call On Heaven (Remember 26-12-2004)" was written in light of the Tsunami that devastated the Asian continent.
At the start of 2005, MarKia performed the song on Channel 31s Jaanz Tsunami Benefit Show. It was this year that he started working on what would be his first solo debut album; Heaven Sent Instrument. A B-side album entitled "Deep & Meaningful" was also completed in this year. The album featured "What U Waitin 4", "Bounce Musik" and "Call On Heaven". However, due to MarKias calling to Christian/Gospel music, he decided to push HSI as a first release instead. During the year, he worked with Tania G (worship leader at Calvary Worship Centre) on her album "Lay It All Down" At the end of 2005, vocal coach David Jaanz gave MarKia the Elite Encouragement Award and Elite Original Artist Award for his performance of "Hes Alive", a track off Heaven Sent Instrument.
Previously a member of Melbournes Elite Fleet Production team, MarKia has worked with a number of different artists in both secular and Christian music scenes (Israel, Tania G, Ka$h Boys, Valarii, JR, Coconut Souljahz etc.).
Worship Leader and Youth Leader at St Kilda Community Church, an active member of Youth Alive Victoria, an in demand producer for 5-1 Entertainment, and a life that lives to serve God.
